As the Agnipath row is gaining momentum, the railway officials said that around 200 trains have been suspended so far due to the protests.
As per the data provided by zonal railways, 164 trains were cancelled in the East Central Railways (ECR) has cancelled around 164 trains, whereas, North Eastern Railways (NER) has suspended 34. Also, 13 trains in Northern Railways and 3 in Northeast Frontier Railways have been halted so far due to the protests against Agnipthe ath recruitment scheme in the defence sector.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw requested youth not take violent ways to display their discontent with the scheme and appealed to them not to damage trains.
“I appeal to the youth to not indulge in violent protests and not damage the property of the Railways,” Vaishnav said.
The areas highly affected by the protests include Bihar, Jharkhand and parts of Uttar Pradesh where widespread protests were witnessed.
