Adani Airport Holdings has terminated the contract with Turkish company Çelebi, which is in charge of ground handling at Mumbai and Ahmedabad airports. The company said that this decision was taken after the Indian central government revoked Çelebi's security clearance.
The Adani Group said that after the cancellation of the contract, Çelebi has been instructed to immediately hand over all ground handling infrastructure to the company so that there is no disruption in airport services. The change is effective at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) and Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA).
Services will be started through the new company and all Çelebi employees will be transferred to the new company with the same conditions and benefits, Adani Airport Holdings has assured.
"There will be no impact on our ground handling operations at the airports. We will continue to operate without any disruption, maintaining national interest and service standards," the company's spokesperson said in a statement.
It is worth noting that the Adani group operates airports in Bengaluru, Guwahati, Jaipur, Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram, in addition to Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
