Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has requested the setting up of six new military schools (Sainik Schools) in Uttar Pradesh. He said this step would give more students in the state a chance to get quality education and prepare for careers in the armed forces.
Akhilesh pointed out that military education brings discipline, patriotism, and a strong sense of service among students. He added that while the government is already working on schools in districts like Mainpuri, Amethi, and Jhansi, there are still many areas without such institutions.
He suggested that new schools be opened in districts like Kannauj and Rampur, which currently do not have any military education facilities. According to him, these schools would help students from all parts of the state, especially from rural and backward areas, get better opportunities.
The former Chief Minister also said that the state government should fully support this idea by providing land, buildings, and other resources. He believes that such efforts will not only raise the standard of education but also inspire more young people to join the armed forces and serve the country.
The Uttar Pradesh government is already working on turning some existing schools into Sainik Schools under the Public-Private Partnership model in various districts. Akhilesh Yadav’s proposal aims to speed up and expand this plan so that more regions benefit.
If this proposal is accepted, the state could soon see a total of nine or more military schools. This would make Uttar Pradesh one of the leading states in India in terms of military education for young students.
The idea has received support from educators and parents who want better educational facilities with a focus on discipline and career growth. People are now waiting to see if the state government takes this suggestion forward and begins work on setting up the new schools.
