New Delhi, May 31 2025:To  strengthen infrastructure and foster industrial growth in Andhra Pradesh, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the construction of a new four-lane highway stretching over 108.134 kilometers. The project is valued at ₹3,653.10 crore.

The upcoming highway is set to play a crucial role in linking key regions of Andhra Pradesh by connecting three major industrial corridors: Visakhapatnam–Chennai, Hyderabad–Bengaluru, and Chennai–Bengaluru. A central feature of the project is improved access to Krishnapatnam Port, a major logistics hub in the region.

The route will traverse the Badvel–Nellore stretch, directly linking prominent industrial areas like Kopparthy, Orvakal, and Krishnapatnam. This development is expected to significantly enhance the state’s industrial ecosystem by streamlining the movement of goods and services.

Officials believe that the new highway will bolster India’s performance on the Logistics Performance Index (LPI), which evaluates the effectiveness of cargo transport across the country. Beginning at Gopavaram village in the YSR Kadapa district and concluding at the Krishnapatnam Port junction in SPSR Nellore district, the corridor is set to become a key freight route.

The highway will be constructed under the Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) model, involving private sector participation in both investment and operation. This approach is expected to not only accelerate construction but also to  improve long-term maintenance.

With the rise in demand for efficient freight services, particularly via trucks, platforms like Truck Junction are emerging as crucial tools for transport businesses. These digital marketplaces help to connect truck owners and logistics operators with potential buyers and clients, making transportation more accessible and efficient.

This infrastructure boost is expected to be a game-changer for Andhra Pradesh, facilitating smoother trade routes and catalysing economic development across the whole region .
