Agra, May 31,2025: To enhance the security of one of India’s most iconic historical monument,an advanced anti-drone system has been installed at the Taj Mahal.

The newly deployed system is capable of detecting unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) within an 8-kilometre radius. Additionally, it also has the capacity to neutralise potential drone threats within a range of 500 metres.

Authorities stated that the move aims to safeguard the monument from unauthorised aerial surveillance or potential threats posed by drones. With rising concerns over drone misuse, especially in high-security and heritage zones, this installation is expected to act as a strong deterrent.Security personnel have also undergone training to operate the system effectively.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and local police continue to monitor the monument round the clock, ensuring the safety of both the site and its numerous daily visitors.

Officials added that more such security upgrades may be considered in the future to maintain the safety and sanctity of the UNESCO World Heritage site.
