The Supreme Court is slated to hear the Gyanvapi Mosque case today, Friday at 3 pm. The apex court has also stayed the hearing in Varanasi court amid apprehension from the Muslim side that the Wazukhana, the ablution area where a 'Shivling' was said to be found could be destroyed, following the order by the Varanasi court to seal the area.
The apex court said, "We direct the trial court to strictly act in terms of the arrangement and to desist from taking further action in the suit. The matter will be heard tomorrow by a three-judge bench."
Meanwhile, the ablution area of the Gyanvapii mosque has been sealed by the Varanasi administration.
Earlier, during a survey, a Shivling was reported to have been discovered. And soon after that officials on May 18, sealed the wazukhana area by placing locks on the doors to prevent any unwanted incident.
Also, to prevent a law-and-order situation at the Gyanvapi Masjid-Kashi Vishwanath temple complex, CRPF personnel have been deployed at the doors to the wazukhana.
