Artificial rain in Delhi - A progressive step

Rainfall is needed for the survival of humanity. Without rain our earth would be dead. Be it growth of crops or respite from hot weather and above all replenishing the Ground Water Sources rainfall is very much needed.

Very often, we see long periods of dry weather and often the absence of rain for long periods gives rise to drought. 

The humanity has progressed a lot and artificial rain through cloud seeding has been among its major inventions. A century back human could not have even thought of artificial rain even in his wild dreams. 

As a matter of fact, Artificial rain, also known as cloud seeding, is a weather modification technique that involves injecting substances like silver iodide or salt into clouds to enhance precipitation.

In a great development, the First-ever artificial rain in national capital Delhi will be reality soon.

New Delhi is all set for its first date with artificial rain as a trial of the cloud seeding process has been scheduled between July 4 and 11, Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced.

The initiative marks a historic step in controlling urban air pollution. Our aim is to provide Delhiites with clean air. That’s why we’re taking this bold step of inducing artificial rain. We are hopeful that it will bring about a meaningful change,” Mr. Sirsa told mediapersons.

One hopes with artificial rain a reality this would be a great stride of country towards curbing pollution and ensuring clean atmosphere.
