A crew from the Guinness Book of World Records arrived in Ayodhya on Sunday and finished counting the more than 15 lakh lamps that were lighted up along the Saryu River's banks. Immediately after the PM declared the celebration to be underway, they were lit one by one to the chanting of "Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram."

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister, received a Guinness Book of World Records award from PM Narendra Modi. On Sunday, all prior records were shattered at the fifth Deepotsav of Ayodhya.

On the social networking site Twitter, the hashtag #AyodhyaDeepotsav continued to trend and reached as many as 230 crore people.

11 Ram Lila tableaux showcasing dance forms from various states were displayed at the Ayodhya Deepotsav, coupled with five animated tableaus.

This trend was adopted by more than two lakh individuals at once to tweet, retweet, like, and react. Twitter users shared pictures and videos of the stunning Ayodhya view using this hashtag.

One user wrote, “Deepotsav is a great example of the pride of our Sanatan culture. It is carrying our eternal values in all its spirit.”

At the inaugural Deepotsav celebration in 2017, 1.71 lakh lights were lit. Since then, the number has been rising yearly. In 2018, 3.01 lakh lights were lit, 4.04 lakh in 2019, 6.06 lakh in 2020, and 9.41 lakh in 2021. This year, on the occasion of Deepotsav 2022, a total of 15.76 lamps were lit at ghats around the temple town.
