17 June, 2025:
RJD leader and Opposition face Tejashwi Yadav has made a bold promise ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections—if voted to power, his government will ensure that only Bihar residents get state government jobs.
Calling it a “100 percent domicile policy,” Tejashwi said, “Why should our youth leave home to find work? Bihar's jobs must go to Bihar’s people.”
Reaching out directly to the people of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav’s office posted a strong message on X, pledging to prioritise local youth if voted to power. “After forming the government in Bihar, 100% domicile law will be implemented so that all the jobs in Bihar are given only to the people of Bihar and not to outsiders,” the post read.
The statement reflects growing concerns among job seekers in the state, many of whom feel sidelined in their own land. By promising a 100% domicile policy, Tejashwi has clearly chosen to make employment and youth empowerment the heart of his election campaign.
Speaking at a youth gathering in Patna, he also assured that fees for government job exams would be completely waived, and the state would cover travel costs for candidates going to and from exam centres—something that could come as a huge relief to lakhs of struggling aspirants.
He didn't hold back from taking a dig at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, calling his government “tired” and “out of touch with the youth.” Referring to frequent exam paper leaks in recent years, he said, “So many students lose their time, energy, and money. A government that can’t even conduct fair exams doesn’t deserve to stay.”
Tejashwi also promised the formation of a Shepherd Commission to address long-standing issues faced by pastoral and backward communities in the state.
This announcement comes at a time when unemployment and youth migration are major concerns in Bihar. The state has seen a surge in demands for local job reservation, with students and job-seekers holding demonstrations and urging political parties to act.
Tejashwi’s promises aim to tap into that growing frustration—and project his party as the one offering real hope and change for Bihar’s youth.
