Blackout and explosions in Jammu, new tension on the border

The city was shaken by the sound of a sudden loud explosion in the sky of Jammu city this evening. Soon after the multiple explosions, power was cut off in various parts of the city, especially the areas around Jammu airport, which were plunged into complete darkness. This incident has spread extreme panic among the common people. Locals said that the sound of the explosion was so loud that windows shook and children burst into tears.

Although the reason behind this incident is not yet officially known, the security forces are on high alert and a search is underway in the entire area. The nature or source of the explosion is still unclear, but initial speculation is that it could be part of a shelling or attack from across the border.

The timing of this incident is significant as a day earlier, India had conducted operations on multiple terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir through ‘Operation Sindh’. Indian sources claim that Abdul Rauf Azhar, the main accused in the Kandahar plane hijacking, was killed in that operation. Pakistan threatened revenge due to this, and right after this incident, explosions were heard in Jammu, which has become a cause for suspicion.

In this situation, the military presence has been strengthened in Jammu and the state administration has appealed to the people to remain calm and alert. The central security agencies are keeping a close watch on the entire situation.

It is also being investigated whether there is any larger plan connected with this incident in the future. Since Jammu is a border area, one has to be alert at all times for the possibility of any kind of attack or tension. Currently, the entire area has been kept under high security.
