At Vijayawada Railway Station, a string of bomb threats causes panic, and security is tightened with a massive search operation.
A second concerning call, claiming that a bomb had been planted at the Vijayawada Railway Station, was received even before the first operation was over.
Vijayawada was thrown into high alert on Saturday morning following a series of bomb threat calls targeting key locations, including the city's busy railway station. The initial threat, received by the police control room, claimed a bomb had been planted on Besant Road. This prompted an immediate and extensive search operation by security forces, involving bomb detection squads and sniffer dogs, which lasted over five hours. Fortunately, no explosives were found in the area.
Authorities successfully traced the origin of the calls to Maharashtra. While the identity of the individual responsible has not yet been publicly disclosed, police have confirmed that the person has been located. Investigations are currently underway to ascertain the motive behind these alarming threats.
Following the incidents, security remains exceptionally tight at the Vijayawada Railway Station. There is a visibly heightened police presence, and surveillance measures have been intensified to ensure public safety. Officials have urged citizens to remain calm but vigilant, emphasizing the importance of reporting any suspicious activities immediately to the authorities.
Despite the disruption caused by the threats, no injuries or damages have been reported. Train services, which were temporarily affected during the initial alert, have gradually resumed normal operations, albeit under close supervision.
These bomb threats come just days after joint anti-sabotage checks were conducted on Tuesday by the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and City Security Wing (CSW) at railway platforms and station premises. These checks were part of increased security measures implemented due to prevailing security concerns. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover the full extent of the incident and prevent future occurrences.
