Pakistani forces have breached the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) for the eighth straight night by indulging in unprovoked small arms fire on different sectors such as Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Naushera, and Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir. Indian Army has given a calibrated and proportionate reply, with nothing reported so far about any casualty or extensive damage.
These serial trespasses come in the aftermath of increased tensions following the April 22 terror attack at Pahalgam killing 26 civilians. Cross-border firing has become more intense, with incursions even extending to the Pargwal sector on the International Border in the Jammu district following India suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and the closure of Attari border as punishment for Pakistan.
Following the continuous shelling, villagers along the LoC have started digging and fortifying bunkers to shield themselves and their families.
The tension continues, and the two armies have exchanged hotline communications, with India issuing a strong warning to Pakistan regarding the continuing ceasefire violations.
