The Central Government has gone the extra mile to boost the security of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. A bulletproof car has now been included in his security detail. This has come at a time when tensions are escalating in the region and the government desires complete protection for its prime ministers.

Minister Jaishankar is among the most significant players in the government of India, particularly when dealing with foreign relations and diplomacy. Therefore, his security is of utmost concern. There have been intelligence warnings and reports of potential threats, particularly when he participates in public meetings and foreign tours. Considering these, the government has resolved to enhance his security.

Earlier, S. Jaishankar was given 'Y' category security, which was maintained by the Delhi Police. But in October 2023, his security was upgraded to 'Z' category. This category of security consists of 14 to 15 armed commandos of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), who accompany him 24/7 wherever he travels in the country.

The addition of the latest bullet-resistant vehicle will now further ensure his travel is safer. The vehicle is designed to withstand attacks, such as blasts and gunfire. Such a vehicle is usually employed for high-ranking government officials or individuals who are in dire need of being protected from serious threats.

Authorities have clarified that this is a preventive measure and not a reaction to any particular incident. The government wishes to be additionally careful, particularly when India is handling delicate issues regarding neighboring nations and international diplomacy.

The move also indicates the government's overall strategy to enhance the security of all top leaders. In the uncertain global climate of today, ensuring that leaders such as the External Affairs Minister are adequately protected is not only vital—it is essential.

The enhanced security cover demonstrates how seriously the government is about national security and the welfare of its most important representatives.
