New Delhi May 20, 2025: In response to intelligence warnings received following the recent Pahalgam terror attack, the Central government has begun a comprehensive security review of major religious landmarks and critical infrastructure across India.

As per the sources ,the sites flagged as potential targets are the Ram temple in Ayodhya and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur.

Security agencies suspect that terror groups could attempt retaliatory strikes in response to Operation Sindoor, the Indian military offensive launched on May 7 that dismantled nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

As part of the high security measures, CRPF Director General G.P. Singh had reportedly visited Ayodhya on May 18 to assess the security setup at the Ram temple.

Sources said he met with temple authorities to discuss enhanced protection protocols. However, when contacted, CRPF officials described the visit as a”routine.”

Despite a ceasefire between India and Pakistan declared on May 10, officials say the threat level remains elevated, especially for religious and strategic locations. The security review is expected to extend to other prominent sites including the RSS headquarters, the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, and the Banke Bihari temple in Mathura.

Additionally, infrastructure such as power stations and hydel projects are also under scrutiny, given their strategic importance.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) are jointly responsible for safeguarding key religious, tourist, and government facilities. Both agencies are actively engaged in reassessing security frameworks at these sensitive locations in light of the new threat intelligence.
