Colonel Sofiya, an Army officer who recently made headlines, left her Ph.D. and a stable teaching job to serve the nation. Her family says the decision was driven by deep patriotism and a long-standing tradition of service.

Speaking to the media, her father said, “Patriotism runs in our blood. We are proud of her choice. She had a bright academic career, but she always wanted to do something greater for the country.”

Before joining the Indian Army, Col Sofiya was pursuing a doctorate and also teaching at a reputed college. Friends and former students describe her as dedicated, smart, and inspiring.

Her mother shared, “She used to say books can build minds, but soldiers protect the nation. She always believed in doing both.”

Col Sofiya completed her training with high honors and has served in several challenging areas since joining. Her story has gone viral on social media, with many people calling her a true role model for today’s youth.

Her younger brother, who is preparing for the armed forces himself, said, “She showed us that service to the nation is the highest calling. We want to follow in her footsteps.”

Many students and young people across the country are inspired by her decision. Retired officers and public figures have also praised her bravery and commitment.

Col Sofiya has not spoken to the media yet, but her family says she is happy and proud to wear the uniform.

“She left comfort for courage,” her father added. “That’s who she is.”
