New Delhi – 5 June 2025:
On World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens, groups, and governments around the world to step up their efforts to conserve the Earth. PM Modi took to social media early this morning, emphasising the significance of sustainable growth and community responsibility in addressing environmental issues. “On World Environment Day, let us strengthen our efforts to protect our world. Every action counts, whether it’s decreasing plastic waste, conserving water, planting trees, or embracing renewable energy. Let’s work together to create a greener, more sustainable future for future generations,” he wrote on X (previously Twitter).
The Prime Minister’s message is consistent with this year’s theme, #BeatPlasticPollution, which aims to reduce plastic waste and promote environmentally friendly alternatives. PM Modi also lauded several community-led green efforts and emphasised India’s commitment to global climate goals under the Paris Agreement. He noted that India continues to provide a good example with its ambitious renewable energy programmes, conservation initiatives, and lifestyle modifications encouraged through the LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) movement, which he started in 2022. “Protecting nature is not a one-day task—it is a way of life,” he stated in the accompanying video clip.
Environmental groups and government agencies responded to the Prime Minister’s plea, initiating cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns, and tree-planting initiatives across the country. As India plays an important role in global environmental policy, PM Modi’s speech reinforces the country’s proactive approach to sustainable growth and continued mission to find a balance between development and ecological preservation.
