Delhi Police have solved the case of a brazen gunpoint robbery at an office of delivery company Delhivery in Dwarka Sector 19, arresting two interstate robbers and recovering half of the looted cash. The crime, committed on April 29, involved three gun-toting men entering the Delhivery logistics office, taking employees hostage at gunpoint, and making off with around Rs 2 lakh in cash and the office DVR, in a bid to destroy evidence.

The accused, Harmeet (31) and Yogesh (30), both of Rohtak, Haryana, were caught in a midnight raid in Jharoda Kalan, Delhi. According to police, Harmeet, a former worker of the delivery firm, hatched the plan of the robbery after he was sacked from his job. He recruited Yogesh and a third accomplice, Gurdas, who had just come out of jail on bail in a murder case. The heist was supposedly orchestrated to raise funds for the wedding of Gurdas's sister on April 30.

The trio reportedly came to the office on a bike stolen overnight from Bahadurgarh, Haryana. They took employees hostage at gunpoint, robbed the cash, and stole the office DVR before escaping. The accused subsequently ditched the stolen motorcycle to evade detection.

Delhi Police conducted a massive investigation, examining video footage from approximately 500 CCTV cameras and applying technical surveillance to monitor the movements of suspects from Dwarka to Jharoda Kalan. Under interrogation, Harmeet and Yogesh admitted their role and provided a description of planning and committing the crime. Rs 54,500 in cash, mobile phones, and robes used during the robbery were recovered by police.

The third suspect, Gurdas, who allegedly supplied the weapon used for the crime and got a bigger portion of the loot, is still on the run. Police teams are still looking for him.

Both Yogesh and Harmeet have prior criminal backgrounds, having been arrested for robbery in Rewari, Luharu, and Bhiwani districts of Haryana between 2015 and 2016. The case reflects the emerging trend of ex-employees misusing insider information to attack their former workplaces and the utilization of interstate gangs to commit such crimes.

Authorities credited the quick resolution of the case to concerted efforts from several police teams, long hours of surveillance, and prompt intelligence.

The arrests have given relief to the firm and its staff members, who had been left traumatized by the armed robbery. Police have called for businesses to reassess their security measures and remain watchful against such specific crimes.
