Delhiās trading community staged a candle march at Connaught Place on Thursday to protest the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people, including a foreign national and a Jammu and Kashmir resident.
Over 100 trade organizations participated, with members wearing black armbands and observing a moment of silence. The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) asked for a 'Delhi bandh' on Friday, with 100+ markets such as Sadar Bazar, Chandni Chowk, and Sarojini Nagar being asked to close down peacefully in support of the victims.
Khan Market vendors shut shop early to take part in the march, sporting black headbands as protest.
CTI chairman Brijesh Goyal said the business community is united against terrorism and vice president Rahul Adalkha pointed out there is outrage among traders across the board. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) joined in the chorus, calling it a "brutal act" and demanding unity across the country.
The bandh impacts major markets such as Bhagirath Place, Jama Masjid, and Hauz Qazi, although public transport and offices continue to function.
The attack, which The Resistance Front has claimed, is Kashmir's most lethal since the 2019 Pulwama bombing.
