The national capital and its adjoining NCR areas witnessed heavy rainfall on Monday morning. Continuous downpours in Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad have led to severe waterlogging on several roads, causing massive traffic disruptions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for Delhi-NCR, warning of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds throughout the day.

The torrential rain has submerged several low-lying areas of the city, affecting traffic movement. Office-goers faced significant trouble, while flight operations at IGI Airport may also be impacted. Authorities and airlines have already issued travel advisories for passengers.

According to the IMD, the rainfall is expected to continue for the next 24 hours, and moderate to heavy showers are likely to persist across the NCR till August 3. Authorities have advised residents to avoid stepping out unless necessary, take alternate routes while traveling, and steer clear of waterlogged areas.

The showers have brought some relief from the heat, with the maximum temperature hovering around 31°C and the minimum around 24-25°C, though high humidity has made conditions feel warmer.

weather officials urge Delhi-NCR residents to remain cautious as heavy rainfall and waterlogging have disrupted daily life, but adhering to safety guidelines can help minimize risks.
