DENOMINATIONS OF 2000 CAN BE DEPOSITED IN BANK WITHIN SEPT 30

2000 rupee notes to be withdrawn from the markets, exchange date of it in bank starts from May 23 and will continue upto Sept 30

On Friday, RBI announced that 2000 rupee notes will be withdrawn from the market gradually and they will stop printing it.


   Thus the circulation of it will be stopped in the market. People those who have 2000 denominations can change it from the bank within Sept 30. Although they can change 10 notes,i.e, 20000 at a time. 


      RBI has adopted this policy of note withdrawal and stopping of circulation to ensure availability of good quality bank notes to the public.


     RBI governor Bimal Jain has introduced this clean note policy on 1999, about 24 years ago.


     The objective of the Reserve Bank's clean note policy is to provide good quality currency notes and coins to the citizens.
