FOUR SMUGGLERS ARRESTED, 11-ft TIGER HIDE, 15 KG BONES SEIZED IN UTTARAKHAND

On Saturday evening, A joint team of the special task force in Kumaon with local authorities seized four wildlife smugglers with 15 Kg tiger bones at the Khatima toll plaza.

From the previous few days, illegal wildlife activities were taking place for which DGP Ashok Kumar directed his teams to crack down on this illegal wildlife trafficking in which they found smugglers with tiger bones in which networks found between Uttarakhand and Delhi.


The accused, found by Uttarakhand police special task force along with the wildlife crime control bureau and Tarai east forest division, were identified as Krishan Kumar, Gajendra, Sanjay Kumar, and Harish of Dharchula in Pithoragarh district. The team was getting information about illegal activities and unusual movements in the forest for which they responded with a quick investigation and found these smugglers with the longest tigers skin ever recovered.

While 5 thousand rewards had been announced for the brave action of the team.


Conclusion


There have been 9 cases of tiger and leopard skin and bones caught in eight years in the Khatima range while 


16 tigers dead in Uttarakhand since January for which the environment ministry asked for a report from the authorities and the action taken by the government. While accidents are the reason for the deaths of Tigers but the smuggling is as well. The government needs to take quick action to stop the chain and stop tigers from being extinct.
