In a gruesome crime, a 35-year-old rag-picker woman was allegedly gangraped and her five-year-old daughter strangulated to death by four attackers, including three minors, in Jind district.
The police stated that the crime took place during the night of April 21-22 when the accused kidnapped the woman who was sleeping in a jhuggi in a neighborhood in Jind town and abducted her at some distance. The accused allegedly gangraped her.
The woman reported to the police that she slept along with her daughter, and the accused even lifted her daughter. The body of the kid was discovered next morning lying on a cot along the side of the jhuggi with marks of strangulation. Afterward, the body was buried but was exhumed following the issue being reported to the police yesterday.
Police officials reported that the body had been referred to the PGIMS at Khanpur Kalan in Sonepat district for post-mortem.
The woman's condition is meanwhile stable. The police added that the accused were Amit (35) and three minor boys. An FIR had been lodged.
