According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the "Digital India Conference of State IT Ministers" lasted three days and ended on Monday in the nation's capital.
Under the direction of the Minister for Communications, Electronics and Information Technology and Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, in-depth discussions with States and Union Territories were held on the first day about the key priority areas of the Digital India projects. It was attended by IT Ministers from 12 States and UTs, including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat. It was also attended by Minister of State for Communications, Devusinh Chauhan and Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw made the following statement in his closing remarks: Connectivity is essential for Digital India and its spread to every nook of the country. In the next 500 days, fresh 25,000 towers will be installed with funding of Rs 26,000 crore, he declared.
He praised all the States and UTs for quickly integrating into PM Gati Shakti. He further mentioned that support has been given for the special assistance to States for capital expenditures of Rs 2000 Crore.
In order to draw firms to their States, he urged the States to take the initiative and implement business-friendly legislation. He emphasised that the commitments from all States and UTs, large and small States, are essential to bringing Digital India to a successful conclusion.
