The Indian women's team, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, advanced to the Women's T20 Asia Cup 2022 final with a decisive victory over Thailand in the first semi-final played at Sylhet Stadium by a score of 74 runs.

The Indian bowling unit put on an outstanding effort as it held Thailand to 74/9 and defeated the team by the same margin in the first semi-final of the Women's Asia Cup 2022 on Thursday. Rajeshwari Gayakwad also picked up two wickets in the match, and Deepti Sharma scored three runs as she finished with outstanding numbers of 3/7.

Naruemol Chaiwai and Nattaya Boochatham both scored 21, which maintained the team's highest individual scores. Shafali Verma's 42 and Harmanpreet Kaur's 36 helped India post 148/6 earlier in the game. Harmanpreet, who led the team again after missing the previous two games owing to an injury, appeared healthy and laced her 30-ball total of 36 with four shots to the boundary.

However, the Thai ladies performed far better than they did in their previous league match against India, where they were routed by nine wickets.

With Harmanpreet, Renuka Thakur, and Radha Yadav replacing S Meghana, Meghna Singh, and Kiran Navgire from their last match's playing eleven, India had made three changes.

The victor of the second semi-final between Sri Lanka and Pakistan will now play India.
