20 June, 2025:
Amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, India has launched the daring “Operation Sindhu” to evacuate its citizens living, studying, or working in the conflict-hit region. While the operation focuses on ensuring the safety of Indians in Israel, the government is simultaneously pressing ahead with efforts to bring back its nationals stranded in Iran, racing against time to navigate the volatile situation and secure every Indian life.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said that the travel of Indian nationals who wish to leave Israel will be facilitated through land borders, and thereafter by air to India. The Ministry added that the Embassy of India in Tel Aviv will be making arrangements for the evacuation and urged all Indian citizens to register themselves at www.indembassyisrael.gov.in/indian_national_reg http://www.indembassyisrael.gov.in/indian_national_reg.
“In view of the recent developments between Israel and Iran, the Government of India has decided to evacuate from Israel those Indian nationals who wish to leave,” the MEA said in a statement on June 19.
The MEA further urged Indian nationals in Israel to register themselves at the Embassy if they wish to leave. “In view of the above, the Embassy of India in Tel Aviv would be making arrangements for the evacuation of Indians. All Indian nationals are requested to register themselves with the Embassy of India,” it said.
A 24×7 Control Room has been established at the Embassy of India in Tel Aviv. Indian citizens are requested to contact the Embassy at +972 54-7520711 and +972 54-3278392, or email at cons1.telaviv@mea.gov.in. The Ministry also reiterated its appeal to all Indian citizens in Israel to remain vigilant and to strictly follow the safety guidelines issued by the Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command. Emphasizing that the government accords the highest priority to the safety and security of Indian nationals abroad, the Ministry said it will continue to monitor the situation closely. It added that the Embassy remains in continuous contact with the Indian community in Israel and is extending all feasible assistance.
Meanwhile, the government is making all-out efforts to ensure the safe return of Indian nationals from Iran. A total of 110 Indian students evacuated from northern Iran have arrived in New Delhi. Speaking to the media, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said that the government has received over 350 evacuation requests from Indian citizens in Iran. He added that one aircraft is also being sent to Turkmenistan to bring back more stranded Indians. The Minister noted that India is using safe and open airspace for flight operations, and the evacuations are being carried out through these secure routes.
