Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh stated that India has now become one of the world's leading countries in science and technology. He made this statement while delivering a speech on the nation's fast growth in areas like space exploration, biotechnology, nuclear research, and innovation.
Dr. Singh stated that India is no longer imitating others but is now leading the world. He mentioned successes such as the Chandrayaan-3 mission, which made India the first nation to land close to the Moon's south pole. He also mentioned that India has launched scores of foreign satellites, gaining recognition and income.
In biotechnology, India created the world's first DNA-based vaccine for COVID-19 and a novel vaccine for cervical cancer. The bioeconomy of the country has expanded significantly, with projections indicating even larger growth in the future.
India has also enhanced its research and development. It is currently among the leading countries to produce PhDs in the sciences and engineering. The number of patents filed by Indian scientists has also increased over the last few years.
Dr. Singh appreciated the government's emphasis on innovation and technology-led growth. He added that the developments are placing India closer to achieving its vision of a $5 trillion economy.In his view, technology and research will be the prime drivers of advancement in the years to come, and India is poised to take the lead in this area.
