Although several hacking groups sponsored by Pakistan have again attempted to launch cyber attacks against India, the country's cyber security agencies have thwarted them. On Thursday, "Cyber Group HOAX1337" and "National Cyber Crew" hacked into the websites of Army Public Schools Nagrota and Sunjuan and tried to deface them. The aim was to post messages mocking the victims of the Pahalgaon terror attack.
At the same time, an attempt was made to attack a website related to healthcare for ex-servicemen. Again, the websites of Hotel Management Institute and Air Force Veterans were hacked. However, no major damage was done to any of them. The sites were quickly taken down and the restoration work was completed. Indian intelligence reports say that such attempts are a continuous attempt to create tension from Pakistan.
The trend of these attacks has increased since April 29. A group known as “IOK Hacker” attacked several educational and welfare websites after they failed to gain access to mission-critical networks.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s provocations on the border have also continued. For the past eight days, the Pakistani army has been resorting to small arms firing in Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Nowshera and Akhnoor sectors. They have been carrying out such aggression continuously since the Pahalgaon attack. Each time, the Indian army has responded with restraint but firmness.
Pakistan is clearly trying to test India’s patience and strategy on both the cyber and military fronts. But so far, India has proven that it is capable of giving a coherent response to every attack.
