New Delhi, 29 June, 2025:
India has firmly rejected Pakistan’s attempt to connect it to the deadly suicide bombing in the Waziristan region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Officials called the allegations groundless and unfounded.
The attack happened on June 28 and resulted in the deaths of at least 13 security personnel, with 24 others injured. After the incident, the Pakistan Army released a statement suggesting Indian involvement.
In a statement on Sunday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, "We have seen an official statement by the Pakistan Army seeking to blame India for the attack in Waziristan on 28 June. We reject this statement with the contempt it deserves."
On Saturday, a suicide bomber drove an explosives-laden vehicle into a military convoy in the North Waziristan district. This act killed 13 soldiers and injured 10 others, along with 19 civilians, according to a local government official quoted by AFP.
An AFP tally shows that at least 290 people, mostly security forces, have died in attacks by armed groups in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan since the start of the year.
Violence has risen in Pakistan’s border regions with Afghanistan since the Taliban regained power in Kabul in 2021. Islamabad has often accused the Afghan Taliban of sheltering militants behind cross-border attacks, a claim that the Kabul administration denies.
