May 30,2025:
In a humanitarian gesture aimed at strengthening Afghanistan’s healthcare system, India has donated 11,000 vaccine doses to help the country combat infectious diseases and protect vulnerable populations.
The Ministry of Public Health in Afghanistan confirmed receipt of the donation, which includes 5,500 doses of influenza vaccine and 5,500 doses of meningitis vaccine. These vaccines are considered essential in preventing the outbreak and spread of severe illnesses, particularly in communities with limited access to medical care.
Expressing sincere appreciation, Afghan health authorities described India’s contribution as timely and vital. The vaccines are expected to play an important role in protecting thousands of lives, particularly among children, the elderly, and those with compromised immunity.
“This donation is a meaningful step towards improving public health and preventing disease outbreaks,” the ministry noted in a statement, highlighting the significance of continued international cooperation in health emergencies.
India has long supported Afghanistan through various humanitarian initiatives, including medical aid, food assistance, and infrastructure projects. This latest effort reaffirms India's position as a steadfast partner in Afghanistan’s recovery and development, particularly in the field of healthcare.
Officials highlighted that in the face of ongoing challenges, collaborative efforts such as this are crucial in ensuring that all the essential medical resources reach those who are in most need.
This act of solidarity also reflects a broader commitment to global health and the critical role of international partnerships in responding to the needs of conflict-affected regions.
