The coal production of our nation has gone up by 5.88% to 830.66 million tonnes (MT) during the period of April 2024 to January 2025 of this fiscal, the Coal Ministry's statement states.
January 2025 production has reached 104.43 MT, up 4.38% from 100.05 MT last year.
Captive, commercial and other have also done well in January 2025 with production up 31.07% to 19.68 MT from 15.01 MT last year.
Coal dispatch in January 2025 has spiked by 92.40 MT, up 6.31% from 86.92 MT last year.
Coal dispatch from captive and other has also grown to 17.72 MT from 13.64 MT last year, up 29.94%. Cumulative coal dispatch up to January 2025 is 843.75 MT, up 5.73% from 798.02 MT last year.
Coal dispatch too has done well. Total dispatch for the year has reached 154.61 MT, ahead of last year’s total of 142.79 MT by January 11, 2025. This is 33.75% higher than 115.57 MT in January 2024, ensuring coal supply to power, steel and cement industries remains uninterrupted.
The total coal production from commercial mines has recorded 150.25 MT, 64 days ahead of the slated time period. This is more than last year’s total of 147.12 MT by January 27, 2025.
