Infosys, major provider of IT services, said on Tuesday that its president, Ravi Kumar S, has resigned.

Just days before it announces its second quarter earnings, the company made this decision without citing any reason.

As president, Ravi Kumar S oversaw all business sectors for the Infosys Global Services Organization. In the consulting, technology, infrastructure, engineering, and process verticals, he led the services lines and drove specialised digital sales.

He joined Infosys in 2002 after beginning his career as a nuclear scientist at the Bhabha Atomic Research Center, and in 2016 he was appointed the company's president.

He was appointed as the Deputy COO in 2017 and widely expected to become the company's COO, but Infosys later eliminated the position after the incumbent, UB Pravin Rao, retired.

After CEO Salil Parekh and former COO UB Pravin Rao, Kumar was listed as Infosys' third highest-paid senior executive in the company's 2021–22 annual report.

On the BSE, shares of Infosys, which will release second-quarter earnings on October 13, ended 2.65% lower at Rs. 1,423.90 per share.

The company board will discuss a share buyback at its meeting on October 13 as well.
