The theme of this year’s International Day of Yoga is “Yoga for Humanity”. The theme is set to underline how yoga helped people during the tough times when the world was grappling with the Covid-19 Pandemic
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 21, marked as International Day of Yoga, attended a yoga event at Mysuru Palace. Shedding light on the importance of Yoga, PM Modi said Yoga unites the people together and “brings peace to our universe”.
The Modi-led Yoga demonstration was attended by around 15,000 people. this year marks the 8th edition of the celebration of International Day of Yoga. The event was held in Karnataka’s Mysuru.
Addressing the event, the PM said that yoga is a healthy practice practiced in almost every part of the world. He also emphasized that it does not bring tranquillity to individuals only, but can bring peace to the entire globe.
He further added that our souls are the center of the universe. He opined that the universe starts with our souls and Yoga is a tool that helps us to attain self-awareness and super consciousness.
The event was also attended by Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, and union minister Sarbananda Sonowal among others.
