 Palakollu, June 24, 2025:

Jahnavi Dangeti, a 23 year old graduate of Palakollu, Andhra Pradesh, with a degree in electronics and communication engineering, has been chosen as an astronaut candidate for the Titans Space EarthLoop Orbital Cruise, which is set for March 2029.

She will join the mission as the first Indian who was born and raised in the nation. Under the leadership of retired NASA astronaut Colonel William McArthur Jr., who is currently Titans Space's chief astronaut, the mission will reach orbit using the cutting edge Titans Genesis spaceplane, which will provide passengers with microgravity experiences and orbital views.

During the roughly five hour mission, Jahnavi is anticipated to orbit the Earth twice, experiencing two sunrises and two sunsets while in zero gravity for three hours.

Numerous accomplishments have characterized Jahnavi's entry into the space arena. She was chosen as the first Indian for NASA's International Air and Space Program at the Kennedy Space Center in 2021. She also underwent simulations similar to lunar conditions and spacecraft operations during her advanced training in Poland and Iceland.

She attended Ullamparru Montessori School in Palakollu until the tenth grade, after which she attended Lovely Professional University in Punjab to study engineering. Since the announcement, community leaders have praised her selection as a significant step for Indian women in space, demonstrating the sense of pride that has been felt locally.

Her preparatory training was funded by the Andhra Pradesh government, which gave her ₹50 lakh to attend the program in Poland. The mission is a "symbol of shared dreams and scientific inspiration," according to Jahnavi, who also promised to motivate the upcoming generation of Indian engineers and scientists.

In 2026, Titans Space will start astronaut training, which will include psychological preparation, spacecraft operations, mission simulations, and zero gravity training. The EarthLoop mission, a reusable single stage to orbit spaceplane that takes off and lands on runways with a focus on cost effectiveness and quick turnaround, is a significant milestone in commercial space travel.

Jahnavi's choice highlights India's expanding presence in international space initiatives as the country commemorates this accomplishment. Her story is proof of the transformational power of ambition and support, and she serves as an inspiration to the nation's future space enthusiasts.
