Kanhaiya Lal Murder: Udaipur streets rocked with protests

Kanhaiya Lal was a tailor who had a shop in Rajasthan’s Udaipur. He was killed after he extended his support to former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma over her controversial remark about Prophet Mohammad

Over the killing of a tailor, Kanhaiya Lal, the streets of Udaipur were ballooned with protestors. The violent demonstration included hundreds of people taking to the streets and pelted stones to display their anger against murder.


Scores of protestors, more than thousands in number, were seen holding saffron flags and were chanting for justice. The security was also beefed up in the city as the tension over Kanhaiya Lal’s killing seems unending.  


Commenting on the protests, a police official said that after brief violence the “situation is currently under control”.


Kanhaiya Lal was a tailor who had a shop in Rajasthan’s Udaipur. He was killed after he extended his support to former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma over her controversial remark about Prophet Mohammad. His killing has sparked massive protests across Rajasthan. Given disharmony in the state, the authorities have suspended internet services in Rajasthan.
