The launch of significant infrastructure projects worth Rs 3854.46 crore by Union Home Minister Amit Shah has accelerated the expansion of the union territory, keeping with the Government of India's commitment to ensuring the entire development of Jammu and Kashmir.

Today in Jammu, Shah officially opened and laid the foundation for 263 development projects worth Rs. 1960 crore.

On Wednesday, ceremonies to lay the first bricks of similar projects totaling Rs. 1939.42 crore are planned for Srinagar.

This is Shah's second trip to J&K this year and third since Article 370 was repealed in 2019, while serving as the Union Home Minister.

He had previously travelled to J&K in June 2019, more than a month before introducing legislation in the Parliament to repeal Article 370.

Shah has been attentively observing development projects over the past three years. In order to assess several current development projects, including those funded by government and the Prime Minister's Development Package (PMDP) in J&K, he held two meetings in New Delhi this year.

In a meeting to be held here Wednesday, he is scheduled to discuss the current state of the ongoing projects in J&K.

Shah had previously said that the administration led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has equally provided development to Kashmir's residents without showing any bias.

According to Shah, the Center's prime priority is the overall welfare and development of the people of J&K.

On Wednesday, the Union Home Minister is scheduled to officially open and lay the groundwork for a number of projects in Kashmir.

Shah would lay the cornerstone for the construction of hydraulic gates at the entrance and exit locations of Hokersar Wetland of the flood spill route under the projects of the Jal Shakti Department. Cost of the project is Rs. 28.45 crore.

In the Kashmir division, he would also lay the cornerstone for 15 water supply schemes funded by the Jal Jeevan Mission, totaling Rs. 107.45 crore.

A total of 74 roads totaling 434.37 kilometres in length and costing Rs 442.58 crore, seven bridges costing Rs 23.40 crore, and one structure costing Rs 4.97 crore are the other projects that will be launched.

Shah is slated to preside over events for the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav," the National Rural Livelihood Mission (UMEED) and SHGs, the Swachh Bharat Mission, Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan, the activation of Drug De-Addiction Centers, and the release of the J&K SDG Report-2022, according to the schedule.
