Shimla, May 11 — A man from Jammu and Kashmir has been booked by the police in Shimla for allegedly using the image of the Pakistani national flag as his WhatsApp display picture, officials confirmed on Sunday.
The accused, identified as Adil Magray, is a native of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir and has been residing near Lakkar Bazar in Shimla since 2016. He is currently employed with a private gas agency in the Himachal Pradesh capital.
According to police officials, Magray has been charged with offences related to promoting enmity on grounds of religion, language, caste, race, or community, and for actions deemed prejudicial to national integration.
A case has been registered under Sections 196 and 197(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the officials said.
