The Manipur Police issued an official release stating that although the situation throughout the state is tense, it is at present under control. Security forces over the last 24 hours carried out large-scale search operations in exposed hill and valley districts.

In one such operation on April 26, security forces found six Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in T Minou village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Moreh Police Station in Tengnoupal district. A bomb disposal team defused all the explosives successfully, preventing possible danger.

Besides this, two active members of the banned outfit KCP (Noyon) were arrested. The two were Shagolshem Lemba Meitei (43) and Shagolshem Romen Meitei (40), both dwellers of Loushangkhong Makha Leikai in Imphal East district. Recovered from their possession were a four-wheeler vehicle, two mobile phones, and two wallets.

Independent Operations Result in Additional Recoveries

In another operation on April 26, Manipur Police seized seven cars which were suspected to have been either stolen or forcibly taken by anti-social elements. In another step, authorities removed the tinted glasses from 207 vehicles in the state to improve visibility and security.

Earlier, on April 25, a targeted search at Wangmayum Barul Alam's house in Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi Darul Uloom Makha, under Lilong Police Station in Thoubal District, resulted in major seizures. Items seized were 3.9 kilograms of brown sugar, seven soap cases with 12 grams each of suspected heroin powder, 0.53 grams of brown sugar, seven bottles of 100 ml Codeine syrup, and seven mobile phones.

Strict Vigil on Highway Movements

To facilitate the secure passage of critical supplies, security personnel kept a watch on 299 vehicles along National Highway-2 (NH-2) and set up 107 checkpoints in various districts.

Appeal to the Public

Manipur Police asked the citizens not to believe or share unfounded rumors and false videos. They emphasized that they should authenticate information by means of the rumour-free helpline (9233522822) of the Central Control Room. They alerted the people that sharing fake information on social media may invoke legal actions. The citizens were also requested to bring back looted weapons, ammunition, or explosives at the earliest to concerned authorities.
