No US Aircraft Over India

New Delhi, June 23, 2025:

Recent social media rumors that the United States launched airstrikes on Iran using Indian airspace have been categorically denied by the Press Information Bureau (PIB). Claims that Indian airspace was used during an alleged US military operation against Iranian nuclear facilities, known as "Operation Midnight Hammer," were deemed wholly untrue by the PIB in a statement issued on Sunday.

The public was advised by the bureau to ignore all of these false reports and only trust official, verified information.

The United States allegedly used Indian airspace during Operation Midnight Hammer, according to a number of social media accounts. This assertion is untrue. The PIB Fact Check unit wrote on its official X handle that the United States did not use Indian airspace during Operation Midnight Hammer.

The clarification follows escalating Middle East tensions between Iran and Israel, which have led to a great deal of online conjecture and misinformation. PIB cited remarks made by General Dan Caine, chair of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, at a press briefing in its post. According to reports, he gave comprehensive proof that US planes did not fly over Indian territory while the operation was underway.

The Indian government reaffirmed that it had not provided any foreign power with logistical support for military action and that it maintained a strictly neutral posture. It also advised people to be on the lookout for content that hasn't been verified by reliable sources. Claims of covert involvement have been further undermined by independent media fact checks, which have supported the PIB's position by emphasizing that US military officials' flight data and route maps blatantly exclude Indian airspace.

According to regional analysts, these baseless rumors frequently surface quickly during delicate geopolitical moments as a result of well planned propaganda campaigns. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has emphasized that hurriedly disseminating false information can endanger public trust and diplomatic ties.

The PIB and other fact-checking organizations have promised to keep an eye out for and correct misinformation as long as there are ongoing tensions around the world. The significance of depending on official press briefings and verified data is emphasized in the bureau's statement. The government has urged the public to stay vigilant going forward, check any dramatic claims with reliable sources, and report false information to the appropriate authorities.
