ON OCTOBER 12, PRESIDENT MURMU TO VISIT TRIPURA FOR TWO DAYS

During her two-day visit to the northeastern state on Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate a number of development projects, according to officials.


On Wednesday at 11.15 a.m., the President is scheduled to land at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport. Murmu will be making her first trip to the state since being elected president.


Murmu will flag off the Guwahati to Kolkata express up to Agartala and Agartala-Jiribam-Agartala Jan Shatabdi express up to t o Khongsang (Manipur) with the new Vistadome coach and LHB rake, according to sources.


By video link, she will also dedicate to the nation the trans-shiftment yard that was constructed six kilometres from the state capital at Nischintapur, the crossing point of the Indo-Bangla railway project.


At Narsinghgarh in the West Tripura district, the President is set to lay the foundation for the Pushbanta Palace Museum and National Law University.


Pushbanta Palace, constructed in 1917 by Maharaja Birendra Kishore Mankya Bahadur, is planned to be transformed into a digital museum by the state government. When visiting Tripura, Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore stayed at the palace. Up until April 2018, the governor lived in the Pushbanta palace as his official residence.


The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) will hold a civic welcome for Murmu at Town Hall with Chief Minister Manik Saha, Mayor Dipak Majumder, and cabinet officials. The President is anticipated to meet with dignitaries, general public, and political leaders.


On October 13, the president is scheduled to travel to Udaipur to pray at the Tripureswari temple before departing the city for Guwahati at 1:10.


In view of the President's visit to the state, security has been stepped up in Agartala and the surrounding area.
