Pakistan tried to target Indian military installations in 15 cities, including big cities such as Srinagar and Chandigarh. Indian forces, however, acted fast and ensured the attacks did not bring about significant damage.

Pakistan used drones and missiles in a coordinated strike on Indian defense bases, defense authorities reported. Indian air defense mechanisms were put on high alert after detecting suspicious activity near the frontier.

The cities targeted in the attempted attack were Srinagar, Chandigarh, Pathankot, Amritsar, and others spread across northern India. Indian troops managed to down several drones and intercept missile attacks with the assistance of advanced radar and anti-air capabilities.

The officials claimed that the quick response averted casualties and damage to military equipment. Fighter jets were also scrambled in some areas to guard strategic points. There were no major casualties or deaths reported on the Indian side, although tension along the border has increased. Military camps across northern India have been placed on red alert.

India has cautioned Pakistan against doing so and has said that it will take strict action if the efforts are attempted again. Pakistan hasn't denied or confirmed the report officially.

The evolution comes in quick succession after India carried out drone strikes on terror installations in Pakistan following a terror strike in Kashmir that left 26 dead. Both countries are now watching each other closely, and peace and restraint have been urged by world agencies. As the situation develops, Indian authorities are having urgent meetings with top security officials and keeping citizens in the know. Security in capital cities has also been beefed up to meet any surprise attack.
