The vintage animosity between India and Pakistan saw a fresh high when Indian Armed Forces razed a tactically significant air defense system within the city of Lahore to nothing in an unrivaled military action. This action has delivered a huge dent to Pakistan's security apparatus in defense as well as strategically. This bold mission of the Indian Army has been christened 'Operation Sindh', whose key mission was to breach the border and enter Pakistan and bring down those military establishments that were to be used directly against India.
In this mission, India deployed cutting-edge Israeli technology 'HARPY' kamikaze drones, which are equipped with the capability to automatically detect the radar system of the enemy and destroy it. Consequently, the Chinese-made HQ-9 air defense system in Lahore, Pakistan, became totally defunct. In the process, the Indian Army has effectively overcome another life-or-death crisis—waving off a coordinated simultaneous attack by Pakistan. Pakistan launched simultaneous missile and drone attacks on at least 15 Indian cities, such as Jammu, Srinagar, Amritsar, Pathankot and Kapurthala. But India's new generation Russia-produced S-400 'Sudarshan Chakra' defence system proved capable of countering these assaults.
The military tension began in late April, when a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, killed many innocent tourists. India directly blamed the Pakistani militant groups Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad for the attack and retaliated by carrying out retaliatory cross-border strikes. Although Pakistan initially denied the existence of the attacks, satellite images, drone footage and information from international analysts suggest that the attacks were quite effective and well-planned.
The war has also had a deep effect on global politics. The United States, the European Union and the United Nations have urged both sides to show restraint. Such a direct military clash between two nuclear powers could be a threat to the stability of the subcontinent as well as the whole world.
The success of 'Operation Sindh' is being heralded as an example of unprecedented usage of Indian Army's cutting-edge technology, utmost application of intelligence and valor. The operation has shown the world that India is not anymore defensive in defending its people and land—now its approach is offensive, pinpointed and completely equipped.
