*Anantnag/Budgam/Srinagar, May 10, 2025* — Just hours after India and Pakistan agreed to stop military action and follow a ceasefire, Pakistani drones were seen flying inside Indian territory in the Kashmir Valley. At the same time, heavy shelling from the Pakistani side is still going on across the Line of Control (LoC).
Local security forces said they spotted several drones in areas like Anantnag, Budgam, Srinagar, and nearby districts early Saturday morning. The drones were flying from the Pakistani side into Indian airspace. "We are on full alert. Our systems picked up multiple drone movements, and action has been taken," said a senior police officer in Kashmir.
Even though both countries promised to stop firing, Pakistani troops continued to shell Indian army positions and civilian areas along the LoC, especially in Kupwara, Poonch, and Rajouri districts. Many villagers have been told to stay indoors, and safety shelters have been opened.
Officials believe the drones might have been used for spying or checking where Indian troops are placed. "This clearly shows Pakistan is not serious about peace. They are violating the ceasefire on purpose," said a senior Indian Army officer.
The ceasefire agreement was made after weeks of talks between the two countries, giving hope for peace. But the drone activity and shelling are now raising doubts about Pakistan’s real intentions.
India is likely to file a strong protest and has made it clear that it will respond firmly to any future provocation. The army remains fully prepared along the border.
People living near the border are once again facing danger, as the situation becomes more tense despite the peace agreement.
