The speculation surrounding Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief and Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s electoral intentions has finally ended, as the leader has officially announced that he will contest in the upcoming Bihar Assembly election.
He made the statement at a rally in Ara, located in Bihar’s Bhojpur district, where his party officially launched its election campaign.
Addressing the “Nav Sankalp Sabha” organized by his party, Chirag said, “Yes. I will contest elections from Bihar, for Bihar, and for the people of Bihar. I will contest polls from all 243 seats. The people of Bihar will decide from which seat I should contest.”
“After losing my father, my own people- my uncle, Pashupati Kumar Paras, ousted me from my house. Now, the people are my family,” he added.
He said that he would fulfill his father’s dreams and work under the slogan “Bihar First, Bihari First.” Notably, he had released the party’s “Bihar First, Bihari First” manifesto during the 2020 Assembly election as well.
At the rally, the actor-turned-politician declared, “I will not rest until I make Bihar a developed state.” He alleged that "jungle raj" prevailed not only during the RJD’s 15-year rule but also under the Congress government from 1980 to 1990. Recalling that Lalu Prasad Yadav came to power in 1990, Paswan claimed that several massacres occurred during the Congress–RJD regimes, highlighting the state’s troubled history of law and order.
