5 July, 2025:

After finishing a warm and successful visit to Trinidad and Tobago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Buenos Aires on Friday morning. The Argentine capital is the third stop on his five-nation tour, which aims to strengthen India's relationships with countries in the Global South.

Prime Minister Modi received a ceremonial welcome upon landing at Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires. This is his second visit to Argentina; his first was during the G20 Summit in 2018. Notably, it is also the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in 57 years.

The Indian community showed up in large numbers to greet him, giving him a grand and enthusiastic welcome as he arrived at his hotel in the heart of the city.

“I landed in Buenos Aires for a bilateral visit that will focus on improving relations with Argentina. I’m looking forward to meeting President Javier Milei and having detailed talks with him,” PM Modi stated in a post on X.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), during his visit, PM Modi will discuss various issues with Argentinian President Javier Gerardo Milei. Topics will include defense, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, trade, and investment to improve the partnership between the two countries.

“The Prime Minister's bilateral visit will further deepen the multi-faceted strategic partnership between India and Argentina,” the statement read.

"Celebrating the lasting friendship between our nations. PM @narendramodi has arrived in the vibrant city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, on an official visit. He received a ceremonial welcome on arrival at the airport. This is the first bilateral visit by an Indian PM to Argentina in 57 years, marking a new chapter in India-Argentina ties,” said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal in a post on X.

After his time in Argentina, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Brazil to attend the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, before heading to Namibia, the final stop on his five-nation tour.
