New Delhi May 25:On Sunday ,Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting with chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from states governed by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
The session, attended by 20 chief ministers and 18 deputy chief ministers from NDA-ruled states, focused on major governance matters as well as political and national issues.
Key items on the agenda included the recently concluded Operation Sindoor and the approval of the caste census, which is set to be incorporated into the upcoming national census.
Prominent leaders present at the meeting included Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Ministers Shrikant Shinde and Ajit Pawar.
The NDA leadership is expected to adopt a resolution praising the Indian Armed Forces and Prime Minister Modi for the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, which was launched in response to the deadly April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
Another resolution will commend the central government’s decision to move forward with the caste census, a politically significant move, especially in the run-up to the Bihar Assembly elections.
In addition to that national security and census matters, the meeting will also explore governance best practices from various states. Discussions will cover preparations to mark the 50th anniversary of the Emergency and plans to commemorate 10 years of International Yoga Day.
The gathering is viewed as a strategic step ahead of upcoming elections, particularly in Bihar, where the NDA is looking to strengthen its position with the caste census emerging as a central campaign theme.
