Motihari:
During his visit to Bihar's East Champaran district on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the groundwork and officially opened a number of development projects totaling more than ₹7,200 crore. When the Prime Minister spoke at a public event in Motihari, the crowd erupted in cheers as he declared, "Our resolve is to make Motihari just like Mumbai."
These undertakings cut across a wide spectrum of sectors, which include digital infrastructure, rural transformation, fisheries, road transportation, and railroad. Modi's visit to Bihar is part of a broader development drive throughout eastern India, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). More announcements are expected later in Durgapur, West Bengal.
A large part of Bihar package has been committed to rail connectivity. The PM launched four new trains on Amrit Bharat that is meant to upgrade the experience of passengers and connect regional networks. He also had committed to the country some of the major railway infrastructure development works such as doubling of the Darbhanga Narkatiaganj train line which is estimated at about 4080 crore rupees. The move will be helpful in reducing pressure on the rails and improving connectivity in north Bihar.
Other railways to be enhanced are doubling up of Darbhanga-thalla wara and samastipur-rambhadrapur, and installation of automatic signalling on Samastipur-bachwara route, Bhatni-chhapra Gramin route. Such improvements are aimed at increasing the frequency of trains, minimising disruptions, and maximising the safety aspects.
Under the road infrastructure sector it was seen that the Prime Minister undertook several national highway projects to enhance freight and passenger traffic within the state. No specific details of such projects were described in the speech, though the PMO assured that they would bring a huge advantage to local economies as well as to the efficiency of logistics.
Modi inaugurated Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) in Darbhanga and Patna with the focus on digital development. These hubs aim at enabling the youth in Bihar to get jobs, start new businesses and encourage IT enabled services.
Rural community strengthening efforts have also continued to be stressed by the Prime Minister. He initiated fisheries projects through Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), which was aimed to assist fish farmers in the region and boost aquatic production. Also, over one lakh rural families have been helped by central housing schemes financially and Self Help Groups (SHGs) were provided with a fund of 400 crores to ease women headed businesses.
After visiting Motihari, Modi will inaugurate and start many projects which were worth more than 5000 crore in Durgapur in West Bengal. Such projects will touch on those such as road, railroad connection, oil & gas, and energy.
Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed his dedication to Bihar's development in his closing remarks at Motihari, saying, "These projects will empower every family, every youth, and every farmer in this region."
