Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to meet the members of the all-party delegations after they return from India’s global outreach mission under the Operation Sindoor, which begins today. According to reports, the meeting could take place on June 9 or 10.
The delegations comprising Members of Parliament from various political parties, senior political leaders, and experienced diplomats were assigned the task of engaging with the international community to present India’s stance and seek global support in its fight against terrorism.
In a rare show of cross-party solidarity, the government sent out seven delegations abroad. The seven delegations are led by Congress’s Shashi Tharoor, BJP’s Ravi Shankar Prasad and Baijayant Panda, Shiv Sena’s Shrikant Shinde, DMK’s Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, NCP (Sharad Pawar)’s Supriya Sule, and JD(U)’s Sanjay Kumar Jha. Each delegation comprises Members of Parliament from multiple political parties, senior political leaders, and diplomats. Former diplomats have also joined the delegations to bolster the outreach efforts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to chair a meeting of the full Council of Ministers on Wednesday, marking the first such gathering since India carried out punitive strikes against Pakistan in response to its role in the Pahalgam terror attack.
Sources said the all-party delegation will brief Prime Minister Modi on the outcome and response to their outreach efforts with the global community. “After the return of all seven delegations, the Prime Minister will meet them next week and take feedback on their global outreach efforts,” they said.
While highlighting Pakistan’s sponsorship of terrorism, the seven all-party delegations also conveyed New Delhi’s message of zero tolerance towards terrorism during their visits to 33 countries. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to chair a meeting of the full Council of Ministers on June 4. According to sources, the meeting is also being held to mark the upcoming first anniversary of the third term of the Modi government, which completes one year in office on June 9.
