Police Registers Case After Viral Brawl Video at Sitapur Parking on Kedarnath Yatra Route, 5 Arrested

Taking cognizance of a viral video showing a violent clash at Sitapur Parking on the Kedarnath Yatra route, Rudraprayag Police have registered a case and arrested five individuals involved in the incident.


The video, which circulated widely on social media, shows several people engaging in a stick fight and assaulting each other. Acting on the video, Sonprayag Police visited the site at Sitapur Parking for inquiry and found that the incident occurred around 11 AM the same day. The brawl reportedly broke out between some pilgrims and parking staff over an undisclosed issue and escalated into physical violence.


Following the investigation, police detained several individuals, including the Sitapur parking contractor, for questioning. Based on the findings, a case was registered at Kotwali Sonprayag under IPC sections 190/191(1) (Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita) as Case No. 30/2025. Five persons involved in the fight were formally arrested and presented before the court.


Details of the arrested accused:


Deepak Chandra, son of Suman Chandra, resident of Bashti village, Post Bashti, PS Augustyamuni, Rudraprayag; Age: 23 years.


Laxman Singh, son of Mamaraj Singh, resident of Darmola village, Post Mai ki Mandi, PS & District Rudraprayag; Age: 32 years.


Rajendra Kohli, son of Late Mahavir Lal, resident of Budna village, Post Budna, PS & District Rudraprayag; Age: 33 years.


Sudarshan Chandra, son of Devendra Lal, resident of Bashti village, Post Bashti, PS Augustyamuni, Rudraprayag; Age: 28 years.


Durgesh, son of Dhananjay, resident of Baratpur, Bashti, Post Bashti, PS Augustyamuni, Rudraprayag; Age: 21 years.


Rudraprayag SP Akshay Pralhad Konde, while briefing about the incident, confirmed that an FIR has been registered and responsibility has also been fixed on the parking contractor for failing to control his staff. He emphasized that strict action will be taken in such cases and such behavior towards pilgrims will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
