6 July, 2025:

After concluding his visits to Ghana and Trinidad and Tobago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Brazil for a four-day visit, during which he will take part in the 17th BRICS Summit and also undertake a state visit.

Upon arriving in Rio de Janeiro, the Prime Minister received a warm and lively welcome from the Indian community. Traditional dances and folk songs filled the air as members of the diaspora came together to greet him and celebrate his visit.

This follows his recent trip to Argentina, marking the first time in over fifty years that an Indian Prime Minister travelled to the country. From Brazil, Prime Minister Modi will head to Namibia, wrapping up his longest diplomatic tour since taking office.

This year’s BRICS Summit will take place without Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, the summit remains important with a full agenda. Scheduled for July 6 and 7, leaders will discuss key global issues such as peace and security, climate action, responsible use of artificial intelligence, global health, and economic development.

Prime Minister Modi is also expected to meet several world leaders during the summit. After the BRICS engagements in Rio, he will travel to Brasilia for a State Visit. There, he will meet President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to discuss ways to deepen the strategic partnership between India and Brazil. Their talks will cover various areas, including trade, defense, energy, space research, agriculture, health, technology, and cultural exchange.
