Jammu, 17 July 2025:

Bharatiya Janata Party senior leader from Jammu and Kashmir and former state secretary, Pawan Sharma, has strongly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's recent letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, labeling it a mere political gimmick aimed at deceiving the public. The Congress party's history of appeasement politics and lack of commitment to J&K's development is well-known.

Sharma emphasized that the Congress party's track record on J&K's statehood issue is marred by empty promises and lack of action. Rahul Gandhi's letter is a desperate attempt to revive his party's fading relevance in J&K. In contrast, PM Narendra Modi has shown unwavering commitment to J&K's development and welfare.

Sharma stated that Rahul Gandhi’s selective concern for Jammu and Kashmir lacks sincerity and reflects a pattern of opportunistic politics. “Where was Rahul Gandhi’s voice when Article 370 fueled separatism and hampered development in the region? His sudden interest in the statehood issue is nothing but a desperate attempt to gain political mileage ahead of local bodies elections,” Sharma said.

He further emphasized that the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought unprecedented development, transparency, and security to the Union Territory, and the people of J&K will not be misled by hollow statements and symbolic letters.

Sharma stated that the BJP has consistently prioritized J&K's development and welfare, ensuring the empowerment of its people and their participation in the decision-making process.

Sharma urged the people to remain vigilant against such political tactics that aim to create confusion and derail the ongoing progress in Jammu and Kashmir.
